Here at Maison Alcée, we pay attention to every detail to ensure you enjoy an exclusive horological experience. As part of that, we’re keen to provide our support to you throughout the assembly of your timepiece.

Maison Alcée performs a lantern test on each of its timepieces.

‘mise en lanterne’ inspection

Maison Alcée applies a painstaking inspection process to each of its timepieces known as mise en lanterne: that’s how our expert horologists ensure that each timepiece achieves the highest possible levels of precision.

Our experts start by assembling each desk clock to make sure it works properly and is free from any flaws, scratches or impacts that could have escaped detection during previous inspections.

Our experts start by assembling each desk clock to make sure it works properly and is free from any flaws, scratches or impacts that could have escaped detection during previous inspections.

Once assembly has been verified, our experts set the timepiece to the correct time and carefully adjust the rate as required. Various measurements are then performed to check the amplitude, workings and settings of the regulating organ. As part of this process, the timepiece is positioned vertically for seven days, followed by another seven days in the horizontal position.

If a component is found to be defective or not up to standard, it is immediately replaced by our experts, thus ensuring that each desk clock leaves our workshop boasting top performance and maximum longevity.

Once the process is complete, your timepiece is carefully dismantled and placed in its presentation box, featuring a noble wood veneer finish.

Maison Alcée’s mise en lanterne is in fact much more than an inspection: it pays tribute to the art of watchmaking – and enshrines our commitment to producing exceptional timepieces.

“Without a doubt, the book is the cornerstone of the whole undertaking. It provides excellent step-by-step assembly details featuring a highly educational approach, but it’s far much more than a mere instruction manual.”
