Persée, the first timepiece from Maison Alcée, is a table clock where you assemble everything (including the mechanical movement) yourself, doing it all in the comfort of your own home.
The kit comes in a presentation box along with a book that’s both an anthology of horological expertise and a work of art in its own right. The kit itself comprises 233 components made by and for Maison Alcée (over 90% of them from the Jura Arc region straddling France and Switzerland) and 17 professional tools you need to assemble the timepiece, some of them specially adapted to make them easier for novices to use.
The set has been developed with a team of horologists consisting of a winner of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France ‘Best Craftsman’ award (anchoring the project in the finest workmanship), teachers to oversee the educational aspect and a designer delivering their fresh take on the traditional table clock.

“It’s only when they open their presentation boxed set that recipients grasp the full breadth of Alcée’s promise: a true sense of enlightenment as they replicate the craftsman’s touch and experience for themselves the sense of meaning it bestows.”

This is much more than a simple manual – it’s a beautiful collection of instructive pages which is a joy to read. This book is an integral part of our boxed set. This undertaking requires time and concentration ; it’s not something to be taken lightly.
Each section of the guide includes a QR code linking you to videos providing visual support and practical demonstrations to guide you step by step through the assembly process.

All the professional tools required to assemble the timepiece are included in your boxed case: the clockmaker’s tools, a brass tweezer, a magnifying glass, a oil-pike, a oil bottle and its oil sink, the finger cots in reserve, a polishing cloth, a membrane box. Some tools that have been developed especially to make it easy for the uninitiated to use them.
Among them, the screwdrivers are also 100% manufactured in the Jura valley straddling France and Switzerland.
The blades have been specially developed and use non-hardened beryllium copper to mitigate the risk of scratches.
“I love everything about this project, from Maison Alcée’s innovative approach (giving us two clocks in one) to their desire to introduce customers to what I find to be an absolutely fascinating craft.”
Thierry Ducret, a ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France in Watchmaking’ and partner of Maison Alcée.

Maison Alcée’s beating heart is the mechanical manufacture movement that powers our Persée timepiece.
The movement is based on that of a wristwatch, built on a larger scale. As well as marking out hours, minutes and seconds, it features an hour chime that can be enabled and disabled.
Boasting a fourteen-day power reserve, the movement has been designed so that it can be assembled by any lover of high horology, including novices. Only the regulating organ comes pre-assembled.
From design through to completion, the movement is the fruit of the extensive knowledge residing in our team of horology teachers, engineers and the winner of a Meilleur Ouvrier de France ‘best craftsman’ award.

The canaletto walnut watchmaker’s bench has been painstakingly designed to give you the perfect working environment.
Once opened and installed, the ‘watchmaker’s workbench’ becomes a raised assembly workbench, similar to a professional watchmaker’s workspace, with its armrests and receptacles.
