Machining, the art of
cutting material

Precision turning on
machines

Bar turning is an ancestral art, preserving the expertise of a traditional machine: the cam-type bar turning machine. This rare craft honors the mechanisms of yesteryear. Long, meticulous set-up times pave the way for the autonomy of these machines, which need only a breath of maintenance to survive.

Bar turning is an essential technique applied to all cylindrical parts, whether axes, screws, pinions or spacers. The bar turner can also cut gear teeth, bringing these precious mechanical components to life.

This process enables us to create parts with complex shapes and very tight tolerances, guaranteeing their optimal operation in sophisticated mechanisms. Thanks to this expertise, every detail is carefully crafted, contributing to the perfection of the watch mechanism as a whole.

Milling, the art of shaping metal with finesse

A few "transfer machines" dating back half a century are still used for milling, but only for large production runs, as their meticulous and demanding set-up can take several weeks.

This machining process is a high-quality technique for producing varied and complex shapes by progressively removing chips of material to obtain the desired form.

The miller handles all flat parts such as plates, wheels, pawls, needles... with extreme delicacy, with the aim of milling them with precision.

In this way, each component takes shape with unrivalled finesse. These different manufacturing stages involve extremely meticulous work.

Exceptional manufacturing tolerance

In our quest for watchmaking excellence, every detail counts. Tolerance is essential in mechanical engineering, as it defines the dimensional deviations accepted during component manufacture. With our manufacturing partners in the Jura region, we have established strict tolerances in the micron range, i.e. 0.001 mm.

Despite the complexity of coordinating over thirty manufacturing partners, our team rose to the challenge with flying colors. Persée has thus become a veritable epic, where every micron counts in our quest for watchmaking excellence.

Let's face it: we couldn't have imagined the complexity of coordinating
thirty or so manufacturing partners, nor mastered the demands of
tolerance, nor guessed the number of steps involved in creating a
high-end watch box! Our team kept up the pace... Persée is an epic.

Material definitions
for pure elegance

Beyond its precise mechanism and elegant design, every detail of this exceptional timepiece has been designed to captivate the eye and inspire wonder.

Persée's color treatments are the fruit of meticulous expertise. Every shade and nuance is meticulously studied and precisely applied, giving life to spectacular and unique finishes.

Surface finishes of remarkable delicacy

While there are a multitude of protective and decorative surface finishes in watchmaking, there are certain codes that are respected depending on the type of component. This applies, for example, to finishes such as strapping for circular parts, or stretching for "flat" parts. A watchmaker can spend several meticulous hours bevelling or polishing a single part.
