What do I do if I don't reach one of the assembly steps?

Teachers of watchmaking have brought the educational dimension to our boxes. These teachers have also allowed us, thanks to their experience of the difficulties experienced by their students, to develop our movement by circumventing certain hard points of the assembly. This guarantees that enthusiasts, without the required skills, will be able to successfully build their own timepiece! In particular, we have developed screwdriver bits that are less hard than professional watchmakers' screwdrivers in order to reduce the potential risk of scratches...
Whether you are neither a manual worker nor a watchmaking connoisseur, the assembly of your clock is suitable for you. It will however require some concentration. A book will accompany you during all the assembly steps. Don't worry, we will of course remain at your disposal for any questions.

What if I lose or break a component?

We have a stock available to send you the lost or broken component so that you can continue the assembly. Scratches are part of the learning process. The screwdriver bits have been developed especially for Maison Alcée. Made of beryllium copper, their hardness is less than that of a classic screwdriver, which reduces the risk of scratching.

What are the steps I will take?

You will assemble 169 components, only the regulator is pre-assembled. You will use the tweezers, screw, oil the components, check the assembly with the watchmaker's magnifying glass. In the end, you will put yourself in the watchmaker's shoes for about ten hours to assemble your own timepiece signed with your name.

Where is the production of watch components carried out?

More than 90% in value of the manufacturing of our timepiece comes from France, a choice that was close to our hearts! The regulator is made in Switzerland.

I am not meticulous, is it for me?

The clock you will assemble has a movement similar to that of a wristwatch but measures 10 x 16 cm. This watchmaker's object allows you to understand the movement of a watch by removing the complexity linked to the meticulousness of the latter. The assembly will require some concentration and perhaps more time, but we guarantee you that you will succeed.

I don't know anything about watchmaking, is it for me?

Yes, this watchmaker's box has been developed to allow an amateur to discover a part of the watchmaker's know-how. Thought as a practical and theoretical learning, the assembly of your timepiece will allow you to discover the workings of this so mysterious universe. Thanks to their experience of the difficulties experienced by their students, the watchmaking teachers have also made it possible to develop our movement by bypassing certain hard points of the assembly. This guarantees to the passionate, without required skills, a full success in the realization of their own timepiece!

Can we add the ringing to the time passages following the assembly?

The hour ring is assembled at the end of the assembly of your timepiece. You can therefore add it at any time. Future complications will be proposed in a few months...

Is it possible to disassemble the Persée clock?

It is possible to disassemble the Persée clock to learn more about watchmaking, to perform maintenance on it or to add future complications. The disarming of the barrel spring, a mandatory sequence before any disassembly, will be explained in the book (page 101). It will then suffice to proceed in the reverse of the assembly sequences.

How do you go from horizontal to vertical and back again?

The Persée clock has been designed to be positioned both horizontally and vertically. To change its exposure position, simply follow the last assembly sequences indicated in the book (page 108 to 93).

How often should the clock be maintained?

We advise you to carry out the maintenance of your clock every 5 years. We will accompany you during these steps. It can also be sent back to us to be checked by our watchmakers. For more information please contact us at +33 98 627 31 39.

Will there be videos to help with the editing?

Videos are available for the more sensitive parts of the mountain. Moreover, if you need it, a video can be set up with our teams. You will never be left alone in front of a difficulty.
